How to make the flag of Guernsey as a banner in Minecraft

Minecraft Guernsey flag banner tutorial

The flag of Guernsey was adopted in 1985 and consists of the red Saint George’s Cross with an additional gold Norman cross within it. The creation was prompted by confusion at international sporting events over competitors from Guernsey and England using the same flag. It was designed by the Guernsey Flag Investigation Committee led by Deputy Bailiff Sir Graham Dorey. The flag was first unveiled on the island on 15 February 1985. The gold cross represents William the Bastard, Duke of Normandy (who became, after the conquest, William I of England). William purportedly was given such a cross by Pope Alexander II and flew it on his standard in the Battle of Hastings. Since 2000, a red ensign with the cross in the fly has been used as the government’s civil ensign and as a blue ensign. (Source: Wikipedia)

There are only a few steps to make it in to a banner in Minecraft. After that you can put it on an item frame and even on a shield.

You need:

  • A Loom (2x string and 2x planks)
  • Min 1x white banner (six white wool + one stick)
  • 4x Red Dye
  • 1x Yellow Dye
  • 1x Shield (for Java edition only)

How to make it:

  • Make a loom. Put two strings and two planks together in the crafting table.
  • Make white banners using 1 stick and six white wool in the crafting table.
  • Add red dye. Pick the Pale design. Do that twice.
  • Add red dye. Pick the Fess design. Do that twice as well.
  • Add yellow dye. Pick the Roundel design.

That’s the finished Guernsey flag as a banner all done! So now we want to put the Giernesi banner on our shield, but first we want a couple more of these banners so we can decorate the village with them.

  • Put the finished Giernesi banner in the crafting table. Add more white banners next to it. That’s how you copy or duplicate the banners.
  • Now put one of these Giernesi banners next to a shield in the crafting table and now you have a Giernesi shield! This only works in Java edition however! At least for now.
